"Match Head" by Cyril Brown
Cyril Brown's "Match Head": Afraid For Beauty
Cyril Brown is an artist New Orleans, LA, currently living in Memphis, TN. He has self published a comic named "Hybrid Zero".
"Match Head" thrusts a panicked canvas towards the viewer. Viscerally exploring issues of body, psychology, and human identity, this painting is designed to stimulate and challenge the eyes (of which there are many). In this canvas, Cyril Brown pays close attention to detail and texture of the subject so that, if you can bear to look at this figure, you can find complexities you might've ignored. Often, the beautiful takes up the most space in our experience; how invigorating we then might find an image like "Match Head" compared against our life.
You can find more examples of Cyril Brown's work at his website Hybrid Zero.
